Hostmonster:hostmonster

To the completely inexperienced webmaster, the Hostmonster control panel is going to seem like quite a scary experience as you are dropped straight into a cPanel upon signing up. However, we noticed that they’ve kind of hidden a few features for their non-technical users. Things like tutorials, how-to videos, and even links to places to promote your website are sure to help anyone who isn’t exactly sure what they’re doing get their site up and running. The hosting company also has a wide variety of advanced options as well. Features such as multiple logging programs, advanced domain tools, and database manipulation are all presented on the control panel’s main page. For users who have a tough time finding whatever option it is they’re looking for, Hostmonster has implemented a search box.

Bluehost:

A lot of webmasters talk about Bluehost’s use of categories in order to organize all of their advanced features. The main approach the company took when setting up their control panel, “cPanel X”, is for webmasters to be able to find all of their tools with two or three clicks. From what we’ve seen, they’ve accomplished this quite nicely.

HostGator:hostgator control panel

HostGator has a rather nice control panel to it, and it’s what we felt most comfortable using. Little things such as building their domain registry into the header of the control panel, links to all parts of their customer support system, and giving the webmaster options to use several different types of website builders makes HostGator seem like a very efficient system. They also seem to have a lot more features enabled for certain categories, especially when it comes to e-mail. One thing we really liked was the ability to set up autoresponders straight from the control panel rather than users having to upload their own 3rd party e-mail systems.

A2 Hosting:

A2 Hosting doesn’t only use cPanel. Since a lot of their business comes from hosting resellers and webmasters using up large resources that call for VPS, they’ve implemented 4 different control panels to suit their individual customer’s needs. While cPanel is still used for the basic webmaster, they’ve also got WHM Control panel installed to manage websites individually. While WHM is set up to control hosting for individual owners, the sites could also be set up to be run by a single owner and managed easily since cPanel still comes installed.

When dealing with VPS servers, A2 Hosting uses HyperVM and Kloxo in conjunction with each other. HyperVM deals with the account management side of things, while Kloxo is used basically as a substitute for cPanel.
